Charlotte Dujardin crowned action woman of the year

  • Charlotte Dujardin proved what the horse world has long known — she’s an action hero.

The dressage star was last night crowned BT Sport’s action woman of the year at a ceremony at the Olympic Park in London.

Charlotte received the award following a public vote on the BT Sport website.

Runner up was world cup-winning climber Shauna Coxsey. European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey was third.

After a stellar 2014, Charlotte is now World, Olympic and European champion — never before has a dressage rider held all three titles at the same time.

“I would absolutely love to thank my whole team behind me and without them this really wouldn’t have happened and I’d love to thank my dance partner Valegro,” Charlotte said.

The award, which celebrates sporting performances by Britsh female athletes, is in its second year of running.

Charlotte was presented with her award by last year’s winner, downhill mountain biking champion Rachel Atherton.

The rider, who picked up two individual golds and team silver at this summer’s World Equestrian Games, has already picked up the Sunday Times/Sky Sports Sportswoman of the year this year.

Now she just needs to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year to secure the trio of accolades.

Charlotte is one of 10 athletes up for the title, which will be decided by public vote on Sunday (14 December).
