Television chef Clarissa Dickson-Wright, (Two Fat Ladies), recently visited Jeffries Saddlery’s Walsall factory with her new TV partner Sir John Scott while filming the latest series of Clarissa and the Countryman for BBC Television.
As Clarissa is soon to take to the saddle again after a lengthy absence, and with Johnny being a noted horseman, both expressed interest in seeing how riding equipment was made.
. The handcrafting at Jeffries fascinated the pair who said they were delighted to discover that manufacturing methods have hardly changed over the centuries.
Taking the hands-on approach, Clarissa and Johnny had a go at everything from cutting and edging to seat stretching and stitching.
While visiting Jeffries’ “tree shop”, Clarissa joked about being on familiar ground – by finally getting close to an oven!
The programme is scheduled to be broadcast in the autumn.
