Britain’s childrens jumping team win European gold


  • The British Childrens Team have won team gold for the second year running at the FEI European Show Jumping Championship for Children.

    The British team finished first out of nine teams, with a total score of just four penalties at the Markopoulo Olympic Equestrian Centre in Athens, Greece.

    Thirteen-year-old Chloe Aston from Hertfordshire jumped two faultless rounds aboard CC Equine International’s Cathleen 16, and this was emulated by 13-year-old Graham Gillespie from Dunbartonshire riding Beth Gillespie’s Ara.

    Lauren Edwards (13) from Cheshire with Peper Lamb’s Mr Bon Ami finished with just four faults in the first round and jumped a clear in the second. Olivia Dales (13) from Hull finished the first round with 13 penalties and second with 24.

    Chef d’equipe Mike Florence said: “This is a fantastic result from such a young team and it’s a great feeling to come into the Markopoulo Olympic Stadium here in Athens and take home the gold medal for the second year running.”

    The Italian team took silver and Turkey bronze.
