BHS lobbies Welsh Assembly for improved off-road access

  • The British Horse Society (BHS) is campaigning for more equestrian access across Wales.

Representatives from the BHS met with the Welsh Assembly Minister for Environment, Jane Davidson to propose the creation of long distance riding routes.

The Assembly welcomed this proposal, stating that it recognised that riding is a growing sport in the principality and an industry that makes an increasing contribution to the Welsh economy.

BHS Director of Access, Safety and Welfare, Mark Weston said:
“This was a very useful meeting. The Minister acknowledged the view we put forward. It is encouraging that the Welsh Assembly Government intends to provide access for all users whenever this is feasible.”

In support of the campaign for improved off road riding, the BHS has set up an Access Fighting Fund. To make a donation, visit www.justgiving.com/accessfightingfund
