Art for equine enthusiasts


  • A rare collection of sporting pictures by Basil Nightingale, will feature at the next specialist sale of fine art, antique furniture and pictures in Banbury.

    The sale, organised by the Fine Art Auctioneers, Holloways, will take place at the Banbury Auction Rooms on Wednesday 6 December at 11.00am.

    Nightingale worked in oil, watercolour and pastel and his best known works are of hunting scenes and racehorses.

    The sale will also include a late 19th century jockey scale, with leatherseat and weights, being offered at an estimated price of £1,500 to £1,600.

    Amateur rider Jo Parris, who will be demonstrating the scales, is not included in the sale.
