The Blue Cross is looking for fit and active people to join them on their expeditions around the world and help raise funds.
As one of Britain’s oldest animal welfare charities the Blue Cross relies on donations to maintain its animal adoption centres and hospitals across the UK.
Treks planned for this year include an expedition to cross the dramatic lunar landscape of Iceland, a bike ride exploring the ancient monuments of Egypt and exploring the white water rapids in the unspoiled paradise of Mexico.
Succesful applicants will travel through some of the most diverse geographical locations and will either walk, raft or ride over the varied and challenging terrain for up to seven hours a day.
The fully escorted trips last between five to 10 days. Participant are asked to sign up with a registration fee and then raise sponsorship from £1,500 to £2,500, depending on which trip is taken.
Tracey Chittock, events officer at The Blue Cross, said: “The support of individuals is crucial for our future and the animals we care for. Without the volunteer fundraisers who are willing to give their time and energy to activities like our overseas trips, we would unable to continue our vital work.”
