Retired showjumpers up for sale from £200 in Eurocommerce auction

  • The equestrian world has been shocked to learn that 4 retired showjumpers are being included in the auction to settle Eurocommerce Holdings bankruptcy.

A Dutch court ruled last month (5 March) that Rabobank had the right to collect assets from the bankrupt stables. The auction will feature a host of elite showjumpers — including Olympic 2012 silver medallist London (news, 27 March).

However, alongside the top horses, 4 retired showjumpers — aged between 21 and 25 — are also for sale. A couple of the horses competed at the 2004 Olympic Games and have been given guide prices between €250 (£200) and €500 (£413).

The auction opens today (Friday 4 April) and closes on Monday (7 April).
