Spillers rep is a winner on the racecourse

  • Victoria Davies (nee Barr), northern regional sales manager for feed company Spillers, trounced a field of 13 to win the Amateur Riders’ Handicap Stakes at Ayr last weekend (7 July).

The amateur jockey was riding Foreign Exchange, a horse owned and trained by her father, Ronald Barr.

“I’ve recently got married and was riding under my new name, which confused a lot of people,” said Victoria. “I’m still getting congratulatory texts three days later from people who have only just twigged.”

This was a fifth win on the Flat for Victoria, who joined Spillers earlier this year.

“I knew it would be a competitive race, but I also thought the mare stood a good chance,” she added.

Juggling her job on the road for Spillers with racing involves “early mornings and a lot of extra miles”, but Victoria manages to ride out three times a week before work, and goes racing most weekends.
