Horse owners across the UK are being asked to nominate their local vet for the 2014 Petplan equine vet of the year award.
The award, now in its 15th year, was created by Petplan to “recognise members of the veterinary profession who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their daily roles”.
“It is the perfect opportunity for owners to publicly thank their vet for the care they provide to their horses and the support they offer,” said a spokesman for the company.
The awards recognise professionals across 5 different categories: vet of the year, vet nurse of the year, vet practice of the year, vet support staff of the year and practice manager of the year.
Last year the awards received 11,000 nominations.
One of last year’s winners, Keith Chandler, former British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) president and partner at Kessock Equine Vets in Scotland, said: “Winning such a prestigious award was an absolute highlight of my year and an enormous honour. It was a testament to my wonderful team and so rewarding to know that we have happy clients who were compelled to nominate us.”
Nominations close on 31 January 2014 and the winners will be announced at an award ceremony held in Birmingham in April 2014.
