Zetland huntsman David Jukes has been recognised for the bravery he showed when helping police to catch a criminal in September.
He received a certificate of commendation from the chief constable of Durham Constabulary last week.
Returning from hunting last autumn, Mr Jukes saw police struggling to follow a suspect across fields and offered the use of his hunt Land Rover.
He detained one offender by jumping on his back.
His actions helped the force catch a Stockton man who received a four-year prison sentence for theft.
