The painting will feature in the Dogs in Show & Field: Fine Art Sale on 16 February.

Noble studied at the Royal Academy Schools before becoming a pupil of Landseer and was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1872.

Charles O’Brien of Bonhams said: “Few Victorian painters manage to capture the character of the hound as well as Noble.

“There is a strength and dignity in this picture, which should prove popular with collectors of hunting art.”
