Do you fancy trying to get yourself noticed at junior level? Take a look at our selection of horses for sale that may be suitable for juniors on the Horse & Hound website this week.
1. ‘Exceptionally smart’
Height: 16hh
Age: seven
Gender: mare
Selling points: “‘Diaz’ is a very impressive looking horse who has three correct and uphill paces, a clean jumping technique in front and a super back end! She oozes presence under saddle, and has a big future ahead of her in any discipline. She has jumped double clear at BE100 level this season and is very bold and genuine across country. Diaz is now ready to progress up the grades with her next jockey in any discipline. She has the movement, scope and speed to go intermediate+. She is an exceptional eventing prospect, making her a super potential junior/young rider horse. A pleasure to have around.”
2. ‘Impressive results’
Height: 16.1hh
Age: 13
Gender: gelding
Selling points: “This genuine schoolmaster has 5BE points and 150 foundation points. He has a consistent record at BE100 and novice level where he is frequently in the top 10. Has been carefully produced and is very much a family horse. He has super paces, regularly scoring in the 20’s and has a snaffle mouth for all three phases. He loves his cross-country and is very genuine and nothing fazes him. ‘Timmy’ is a great all-rounder and has also competed at Pony Club events. Good to do.”
3. ‘Flying coloured machine’
Height: 16.2hh
Age: 10
Gender: gelding
Selling points: “This horse is a super consistent winning horse who is rarely out of the placings. He has a snaffle mouth and isn’t strong. He is super scopey and a real trier. ‘Oaksey’ has taken me from jumping British Novice to Foxhunter classes in less than a year. We competed in the HOYS bronze league semi-finals and he is quick and agile against the clock. This is a very genuine horse with a heart of gold and a fantastic temperament both at home and at shows (alone or in company). This horse will jump anything. He has schooled over 1.30m at home with absolute ease — there is no limit to this horse’s scope and ability. Will make a perfect children on horses horse and be a super amateur’s horse for someone wanting to go up the rankings and have a lot of fun. This horse loves his job and will give his next rider a lot of fun and success. He never disappoints and always brings home the diesel money.”
4. ‘Exceptional mare’
Height: 16.2hh
Age: eight
Gender: mare
Selling points: “This is a very sad sale of a wonderful horse by Master Imp with Cruising, Clover Hill and King of Diamonds lines. She has an exceptional temperament with no vices. She has been carefully produced with the future in mind. She is a careful, reliable, scopey jumper and has been to most major showjumping championships. Has jumped double clears up to Newcomers and 1.15m open and pops 1.35m at home happily. Individual winner and overall champion at Blenheim Palace 100 Eventers’ Challenge 2015. Qualified for some dressage championships too. In her first year eventing in 2015 she was placed second twice, fifth, ninth and fourth in her first BE events. She was second at Mount Ballan BE100 and double clear in the novice at Chepstow and completed Pontispool in 2016. Straightforward to ride with a snaffle mouth. Not mareish at all and lives with geldings and mares equally. An angel at shows and an ideal JRN and junior horse.”
5. ‘Oodles of potential’
Height: 16.1hh
Age: 11
Gender: mare
Selling points: “Are you looking to go to the top of eventing? This stunning mare loves her job and would be perfect for an ambitious junior who wants to fast track up the levels. She would be a definite Europeans candidate. She has jumped for the past 18 months with a teenager up to 1.30m. She is great on the flat and loves her cross-country. This mare is an easy ride and goes in a rubber snaffle. She is never sharp and is careful and scopey. A truly wonderful mare who makes you smile and loves life. She is never mareish, is fab out hunting and is good to do.”

Selling points: “This mare has one of the best mother lines in Holland. She has the whole package; the looks, scope and temperament. She is an easy, light ride on the flat and has a snaffle mouth at all times. ‘Minnie’ is a pleasure to own and is easy in every way. She has all of her double clears at British Novice, Discovery and Newcomers levels and has jumped a 1.15m clear. She is now ready to jump a Foxhunter. Very good against the clock and is sure to go on to jump some serious tracks — she will be a great horse to get you noticed on teams.”
