A new look team will be representing Britain at the Pony Europeans in Germany in July
Eight riders have been included in British Eventing’s short-list for the 2002 British Pony European squad. The European Championships are being held at Hagen, Germany on 30 July – 4 August.
The short-listed riders are:
- Lucy Eggington (Abbas Liberty Bell)
- Tamsyn Hutchins (Harry Hotshot/Hells Angel)
- Tara Morrison (Billy Joe Bob)
- Laurabeth Pilkington (Welton Camellia)
- Holly Rayner (Kaleburn)
- Angus Smales (Cornsay Sam)
- Alice Whitehead (Kilusty Prince)
- Charlotte Ward (Killyfassey Freddie)
Only one rider on this year’s short-list has represented Britiain at the European Championships previously. This is Tamsyn Hutchins who is in her last year of ponies. She has the former European Gold medal-winning pony Harry Hotshot and her ride from last year, Hells Angel, short-listed.
Holly Rayner will be hoping to gain a team place this year, after being long-listed in 2001, while the remaining riders are looking to represent British pony team for the first time.
The final squad of five will be announced on 3 July following squad concentration at Stonar School in Melksham, Wiltshire on 28-30 June.
Charles Owen & Company and The Stable Door Saddlery will be supporting the 2002 squad.
