Oasby Horse Trials have altered the timetable for its inaugural pre-novice three-day event in response to rider concerns about work commitments. Dressage will only run on Friday and the event is also including a short format open pre novice section (without roads, tracks and steeplechase), giving riders the opportunity to enter either section.
A champagne reception and riders’ briefing will be held on Thursday evening following the trot up. On Friday an international rider will be conducting a course walk in the morning and afternoon and the dressage phase will take place. A pub quiz is planned for Friday evening and following the cross-country on Saturday there will be a free barbeque.
“We are committed to providing all competitors with an exciting introduction into Three Day Eventing,” said a spokesperson for Oasby. “At Oasby, we have always planned to give pre novice riders a dedicated three day event that offered competitors the chance to experience the true atmosphere of a traditional three day event.”
As with the first half of the season the qualification rules for PN3DE have been relaxed for the remainder of 2006. Combination of horse and rider will now need to have completed the following: – 3 (reduced from 4) clear rounds cross country with no more than 16 faults show jumping.
