Massive entries at Blair Castle as Lucy Wiegersma enjoys her first senior three-day event win
Lucy Wiegersma, Eventing magazine’s popular diarist, won her first senior three-day event, the two-star CCI at the Bowmore Blair Castle horse trials in Perthshire, Scotland, at the weekend.
The event had its largest ever field of entries, with riders from nine nations.
Australian Clayton Fredericks was runner-up in boththe two and one-star sections. The one-star saw a first three-day win for Lisa Maynard, who has represented Britain at young rider level.
Lisa’s win was at the expense of cross-country leader Eddy Stibbe, at 51 one of the sport’s most senior – and generous – participants who, after 30 years of international competing, has yet to win a three-day event. He wasted time in the show jumping arena when missing fence two and his time-faults dropped him to seventh.
