The first pre-novice three-day event of 2008, at Chepstow (15-18 May), has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
These events started in 2006 in response to a British Eventing member survey, but have always suffered from low entries, partly due to the cost and time implications of competing (news, 20 July 2006).
Chepstow received 23 entries in total in the pre-novice and open pre-novice three-day events and the novice two-day event. The two-day event, less popular now it is not a qualification for a CCI*, is also cancelled.
Entries secretary Rosemary Cann said 45 entries were needed across the three classes to make them viable.
