All systems go at Badminton on the first day of dressage
Following yesterday’s first horse inspection in which just one horse – Amazing Grace ridden by Julie Tew – failed, a strong field lines up to tackle the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials challenge which starts today with the first day of dressage.
The field of favourites to win the title includes Pippa Funnell who will be riding her dual European champion Supreme Rock in search of her first Badminton success.
Title holder Mary King returns with King Solomon, having retired her 2000 winner Star Appeal.
Last year’s cancellation of the event due to foot and mouth has encouraged a record international entry chasing top prize-money of £35,000.
