Badminton Horse Trials 2014 to revert to later in May

  • The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials 2014 will revert to its Thursday to Sunday schedule, moving to the weekend after the Mayday Bank Holiday.

Since 2010, the event has finished on the bank holiday to fit in with BBC TV schedulers.

But from 2014 it will revert to the second weekend in May (8-11th).

Badminton director Hugh Thomas said: “There is always a knock-on effect when big sporting dates change, but Royal Windsor has moved one week later [in 2014], so there will be no clash. We will also avoid any future clashes with the Kentucky four-star event.”

Badminton has signed a new contract with the BBC to cover the horse trials until 2016.

This year’s event was cancelled, after weeks of torrential rain left the course covered in standing water.

Next year, Badminton runs from 2-6th May. For more information, visit www.badminton-horse.co.uk
