Patchetts Equestrian Centre in Hertfordshire is receiving numerous calls from riders concerned about the new London Low Emission Zone despite being located outside the Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
The centre is holding the BD Southern regional dressage championships (2-6 February) and is being inundated with worried callers who incorrectly believe they must comply with new regulations.
Equestrian manager Anna Ross-Davies said: “People have heard that the new regulations affect some yards inside the M25. Patchetts EC is inside the M25, but we are outside the LEZ — so we’re OK.”
From today (Monday, 4 February), older lorries that are travelling within the LEZ will either have to pay a £200 charge or fit a £2000 pollution filter.
“Our shop phone has been going mad because a lot of people are coming to our regional championships this week,” added Anna. “They are very concerned that if they come they will have to pay £200, but that is not the case, they do not have to pay this charge.”
