Farewell to… a much-loved Pony Club district commissioner


  • Dressage judge, Pony Club district commissioner and event horse owner Julia “Tulip” Abernethy died on 18 October.

    She was 58 and had been suffering from leukaemia since July 2011.

    Mrs Abernethy was a popular DC of the Bicester and Warden Hill branch of the Pony Club, only giving up in September due to her illness.

    She owned event horses such as Welton Fleetway, first ridden by her daughter Lucy and then by Izzy Taylor.

    Her funeral took place on 30 October.
