Bidding under way for Uthopia and Valegro’s Olympic saddlecloths in charity auction

  • Saddlecloths worn by dressage superstars Valegro and Uthopia at the Olympics are being auctioned on eBay for charity.

Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin have donated the saddlecloths — supplied by their sponsor, Classic Dressage — in aid of two charities dear to their hearts.

They used the saddlecloths to warm up “Uti” and “Blueberry” ahead of their team gold medal-winning performances at Greenwich in the summer.

“The saddlecloths haven’t been washed since the Games; in fact, you can still see the black and brown hairs adorning the underside!” said a spokesman for Classic Dressage.

The winning bidders will also receive a personalised card with a special message from Carl and Charlotte and the cloths will be sent out with free postage and packing anywhere in the world.

Proceeds will go to the Midlands Air Ambulance and Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled Centre.

The first auction ended on Sunday, 2 December and raised £510. The second auction is ongoing and finishes on Sunday, 9 December, with the bid at £400 as this article was published. To bid, visit: www.eBay.co.uk
