Correct contact reins from de Boiz have been designed in association with top equestrian coach Ernest Dillon to help the rider to keep a clear, constant contact and keep their horse balanced.
“A serious and common fault in the developing show jumping rider is to throw the contact away on the take-off stride, which is the precise moment the horse needs support,” says Ernest. “The correct contact reins makes this error almost impossible.”
A special loop in the rein eliminates strong tension in the rider’s upper body, producing a softer, more sympathetic feel.
“I have experimented with the reins with great results from young children on strong ponies, right through to serious adult riders competing over 1.5m courses. Without exception every rider showed a marked improvement in a remarkably short time.”
Ernest says: “The obvious benefits prove themselves almost immediately and if used over a long period will give any rider more confidence in the correct use of the leg and rein aids.”
The reins are easily adjustable to suit horse of all sizes, are available in brown or black leather, and cost approximately £60 per pair.
