Middleton Park offers updated facilities for riders

  • Middleton Park Equestrian Centre, Leeds, was awarded Lottery Funding in November 2000 in recognition of its work with disabled and underprivileged people, and to help it develop modern training facilities for its students.

The improvements include a new yard, classroom, social room, reception and office, which has enabled the staff to start Sunday workshops and evening classes for the local people:

“Many of our riding schoolclients wanted to learn more about horses, and how to care for them, but could not commit to a full-time course,” explained a spokesman. “The Sunday Drop In Centre has been very well received as it allows people to study the ASET [Accreditation Syndication for Education and Training] animal care course in a flexible way, with full support from the team here.

“The evening classes are particularly popular in the summer as people enjoy coming down to the yard after work.”
