Hunt case adjourned

  • A case involving two stag hunt members accused of breaching the Hunting Act 2005 has been adjourned until 5 October. The League Against Cruel Sports has started proceedings against Quantocks Staghounds huntsman Richard Downs and whipper-in Adrian Pullivant.

Last month the League brought the first prosecution of a breach on the hunting ban. Exmoor huntsman Tony Wright, who was convicted of hunting foxes and fined £500, has launched an appeal.

The Countryside Alliance is supporting the two Quantocks Staghounds defendants, accused of breaching the Act last February at Longstone Hill, Holford.

The hearing will take place at Taunton Dean Magistrates Court in Somerset.
