New Zealander Tim Price kept the home team at bay in the open intermediate at Cleobury Mortimer, by just 0.3pen on his gift horse, Boondoggle. Just behind Tim was the in-form Hannah Bate, riding Beau Bear.
In the first of the intermediate sections XLNT Cosmic Clover headed the line up with Greek rider Michael Diamantides. Second were Carly Reid and On The Contrary, just 0.5pen behind the winners.
The second intermediate section went to Sonate V, owned by Pennie Wallace and Marcus Roberts and ridden by the latter. The pair finished eight marks ahead of Louisa Lockwood and Desert Island.
The intermediate trakehner at fence five was removed from Brian Perry’s course after two of the first nine horses found a rather unconventional way of negotiating it.
