Last year’s Burghley winner William Fox-Pitt has set the standard at the 2006 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
Aboard Ballincoola, with whom he took the title last year, Fox-Pitt wowed all three dressage judges to clock up a 45.4 pen score.
The mark was good enough to trump this morning’s first combination, Matt Ryan and Bonza Puzzle on 47 penalties and has put Fox-Pitt into an early lead.
