The BSJA has launched a new type of social membership for show jumping fans, as the sport prepares for a leap in interest levels following the broadcast of BBC’s Only Fools on Horses series (7-15 July).
BSJA spokesman Jacky Knightley told H&H: “The club is for anyone who wants to follow show jumping, but doesn’t necessarily have a horse.”
The “BSJA Club” will keep interested individuals informed of the ‘goings on’ in the sport for £23 a year. Members will be eligible for special competitions and escorted tours are planned for some of the major events in the 2007 show jumping calendar in Europe.
All BSJA Club members will receive a welcome pack, including a branded baseball cap, membership badge, BSJA pen, car sticker, show jumping photograph, as well as the quarterly BSJA magazine ‘British Show Jumping’. Open days and lecture demonstrations are also planned for the year ahead.
The money raised by the new club will assist with funding the ongoing training and development of our aspiring medal winning teams with the immediate focus on Beijing 2008 and, in the future, the London 2012 Olympic Games.
