Lightweight grey cobs were in vogue at Royal Windsor Horse Show this afternoon. This year’s Cob Champion Howzat and Reserve Cob Champion Gemini are both seven-year old grey lightweight cobs.
The Cob Championship to find the best cob in show was judged from the 1st and 2nd prize winners in the lightweight and heavyweight cob classes.
Howzat’s owners Mrs M Knight and Julie Thomsett are delighted with this afternoon’s result. According to Thomsett, who rides Howzat, he is like a pony – despite measuring 155cm: “He’s very cheeky but a good friend,” she told HHO. The pair were presented with the Archibald Weigall Challenge Trophy, and in a few weeks time they will be trying their luck at the South of England Show.
Reserve Champion Gemini is owned by Beaverfest Ltd and was ridden today by Jo Jenkins.
