Whether you’ve worked out how to get to London Horse Show from its previous runnings at ExCeL over the past couple of years or it’s your first visit to the event since its move from Olympia, it’s worth taking a fresh look at transport options for this year.
How to get to London Horse Show on public transport
If you want to take the new Elizabeth Line to the show, the best station to alight at is Custom House, which is just outside ExCeL. You need the branch of the Elizabeth Line that terminates at Abbey Wood. Trains which terminate at Shenfield do not stop at Custom House.
Another option is to take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), which links into the tube network, and get off at Prince Regent. Trains pull up at a covered walkway at the Prince Regent, leaving visitors with less than two minutes walk to the entrance to ExCeL. You need the branch of the DLR which ends at Beckton – trains which terminate at Woolwich Arsenal do not stop at Prince Regent. Some stations will not offer trains on both branches, so you might need to pick up a Woolwich Arsenal train and then change.
If you’re looking at a standard tube map, the Elizabeth Line is shown by two purple lines and the DLR shown by two turquoise lines. You will find both Custom House and Prince Regent stations on the far right of the map.
One of the great aspects of travelling in London is that there are always lots of different ways to get anywhere, which means you have options if there are delays or services are down on one route. But we would suggest that the routes below are the simplest from the major stations or try using the Transport for London journey planner.
From Waterloo
Take the Jubilee Line eastbound towards Stratford. Change at Canary Wharf onto the Elizabeth Line.
From Euston
Take the Northern Line southwards on the Charing Cross branch. Change at Tottenham Court Road onto the Elizabeth Line.
From King’s Cross/St Pancras
Take the Hammersmith & City, Circle or Metropolitan line eastwards for one stop. Change at Farringdon onto the Elizabeth Line.
From Paddington or Liverpool Street
Take the Elizabeth Line.
Via coach
For certain performances (Thursday evening, Saturday evening, Sunday evening and Monday evening) a joint coach travel and ticket package is available in 2023. Coaches will depart and return to pick up and drop off points in Southampton, Oxford, Milton Keynes and Crawley.
The coach ticket package includes a second price ticket at a special offer rate, plus a seat for a round trip to the show on one of our official coaches departing from one of four pick up points:
• Milton Keynes Coachway, Coachway Road, Newport Pagnell MK16 0AA – coach station
• Oxford Redbridge Park & Ride, Abingdon Road, Oxford OX1 4XG
• Southampton Central Station, Central Station Bridge, Blechynden Terrace, Southampton SO15 1AL – train station. Collection is adjacent to Overline House
• Crawley Train Station, Station Way, Crawley RH10 1JA. Collection on Station Way which is adjacent to Station Car Park
Coach package tickets cost £92.75 from all locations and all performances.
Please note, there are no concession rates. Your show ticket will also act as your coach ticket. Please show the driver on arrival.
See timings for coach travel.
How to pay
You can use a contactless card to pay on the tube and DLR – simply tap in on the yellow validator at your first station and out at your final one on each journey (so, if for example, you board the Jubilee Line at Waterloo and get off the Elizabeth Line at Custom House, you just tap in at Waterloo and out at Custom House – there is no need to tap in or out at stations in between).
Not all DLR stations have barriers, so if you use the DLR you need to remember to tap in and out – it’s more likely you’ll be overcharged than undercharged if you forget!
Face coverings
Face coverings are no longer required on the tube or the DLR, but you can wear one if you wish.
