Zara Phillips left Olympia with an armful of trophies last night. The 24-year-old European Evening Gold medallist was named Equestrian Personality of the Year by the British Equestrian Writers Association before being presented with two eventing awards. Phillips also collected awards from the Sports Journalists Association and Toytown was declared THB British Equestrian Event Horse of the Year 2005.
Phillips, who was recently voted Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year received two trophies from British Eventing, one for being the highest places senior rider in the respective yearly championships and another as owner of the British horse gaining the most eventing points this year.
Yesterday afternoon Zara took a short break from the action at Olympia and made her way across London to receive an award from the Sports Journalists Association.
On returning to Olympia she rode Toytown into the main arena to receive the Equestrian Event Horse of the Year Award. THB Equestrian Director Simon Mackaness said: We are well aware of the skill, courage and determination it takes to compete and achieve success at the highest level. It gives me great pleasure to recognise the outstanding accomplishments of this partnership in 2005.
Zara received an individually commissioned bronze head of the horse and THB British Equestrian rug as well as a bridle and framed picture.
