A woman passenger has died after the car she was travelling in collided with a horse.
Brenda Smith, 65, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Renault Scenic when it crashed into a black horse on the A3058 near Quintrell Downs in Cornwall. Smith, from nearby Newquay, was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske. Despite the best efforts made by the medical team she later died from her injuries.
The horse died at the scene and enquiries caused the road to be closed for nearly six hours. “The horse had escaped from a field,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, “Police are interviewing the owner as part of their investigation”.
Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident, which occurred at 5.30pm on Saturday 10 December to contact them on 08452 777444 quoting log 25 11/12/05.
