Skelton comes close in Toronto

  • Britain’s Nick Skelton has been on top form at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Canada, with foot-perfect rounds in two highly competitive classes.

Skelton finished runner-up in last night’s Ricoh Big Ben Challenge on the Hales’ magnificent stallion, Arko III. The pair jumped clear in a nail-biting jump off where less than a second separated the top three riders. Laura Kraut from the USA won the competition, with Canada’s Eric Lamaze finishing in third.

A flawless performance in the CN World Cup Grand Prix the day before proved Skelton and Arko were a force to be reckoned with. The duo jumped a professional double clear to finish third behind Eric Lamaze, with America’s McLain Ward taking pole position.

The Royal Winter Fair is one of the largest indoor equestrian events in the world and attracts over 55,000 visitors.
