Olympic medallist to host dressage convention

  • Olympic, World and European medallist Beatriz Ferrer-Salat will be sharing her experience with British dressage fans when she takes the reins at the BEIB British Dressage National Convention at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire (26 -27 November 2005).

Ferrer-Salat and her top ride Beauvalais have spearheaded an unprecedented era of success for Spanish riders, being placed in the top three in every major championship in the last three years, despite the continued domination of the sport by northern European countries such as Germany and the Netherlands.

At the Athens Olympics, this outstanding partnership was placed second in the grand prix, second in the special and third in the kür to claim individual bronze and lead the Spanish team to the country’s first Olympic dressage silver medal.

Currently ranked sixth in the world, Ferrer-Salat travelled to Britain to contest the London International Horse Show at Olympia last December, when she narrowly beat Carl Hester and Escapado into first place in the grand prix and kür with scores of 72.875% and 79.575%.

The Spanish dressage star will join other famous trainers and riders such as Ulla Salzgeber, Conrad Schumacher and Johann Hinnemann, who have previously hosted British Dressage’s two-day convention.

BEIB Director, Simon Mackaness says: “We are delighted that Beatriz will be taking the BEIB National Convention in November. With her tremendous successes in recent years I have no doubt that Beatriz will be both interesting and informative to watch.”

The BEIB British Dressage National Convention is open to all, although members of British Dressage receive discounted tickets. Tickets cost £35 per day (£50 for both days) for BD members and £40 per day (£60 for both days) for non-members.

Tickets are available from the British Dressage Office. Cheques made payable to “British Dressage” and an SAE should be sent to Ruth Tyler, British Dressage, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 2RJ.
