A 39-year-old woman has been found guilty of causing actual bodily harm to a Quorn hunt supporter.
A jury took 3hr to convict Suzanne Amos of attacking 65-year-old assistant terrierman Graham Allen, causing injuries that kept him off work for 10 weeks. Amos, of Blaby, Leics, was cleared on a charge of deliberately breaking Mr Allen’s spectacles on 13 September last year.
After the verdict, Leicester Crown Court heard that Amos had previously been jailed for 12 months in 1999 for violent disorder and common assault at an animal rights protest.
Judge Michael Stokes QC adjourned the case until 15 October for sentencing. Amos was bailed on condition that she did not get involved in any hunt-related activity.
In the attack, Mr Allen suffered a cracked rib, a perforated eardrum, a cut cheek and a nosebleed.
The court heard that Amos was sitting on a hole where a fox had run to ground. The terrierman was attacked by Amos as he tried to help another hunt supporter lift her off the hole. His glasses were pulled off and thrown away and he was then kicked in the chest.
