The British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) has appointed a leading sports PR agency to support and promote the association.
The Guildford-based Gem Group already has a vast wealth of experience in the sports industry, representing other governing bodies such as the British Horseracing Board, as well as various equestrian set-up including Epsom, Sandown and Kempton Park racecourse.
“Our main objectives are to raise the profile of the BSJA, and above all, to promote the young riders who will be role models for future generations,” explains Sonia Wilson of the Gem Group.
“We are also going to carry out an audit of show jumping – we will speak to many of those closely involved with the sport – which will, we hope, provide us with the information to come up with recommendations for modernising the sport.”
The marketing agency has been employed for an initial six months by the BSJA, during which they hope to complete the audit.
“We have experience of working with an equestrian governing body – the BHB – and we would be extremely keen to work with the BSJA on a similar permanent basis. It is a very exciting prospect, and hopefully, the relationship can continue after the first six months,” Sonia Wilson adds.
GEM has already been pro-active in the run-up to the Olympics, creating regular features for the press and the association’s website.
“Once the audit is completed, the association should be able to refresh its image and direct its efforts in the best possible form,” states the BSJA.
