New backing for British show jumping

  • The BSJA has secured sponsorship for its most popular national series – the Senior British Novice Championship – from Sue Carson Saddles and Alruba Rubber.

The British novice championship is considered to be the most significant grassroots series, catering for the amateur or less experienced competitors in the world of British show jumping, and is designed to “encourage correct and safe show jumping with the opportunity of qualifying to compete in the final”.

The finals of the championship take place at the BSJA Festival of Show Jumping on 19th September. Horses which jump at least four double clears in British novice first round competitions between 1 June 2003 and 31 May 2004 qualify for one of sixteen second round competitions. The top five qualify for the finals.

Sue Carson is a unique collection of saddles and bridlework whose designs ensure that whatever the size and shape of the horse, the saddle will allow total freedom of movement for the horse, whilst also providing maximum security, comfort and balance for the rider.

Albarubber is one of the oldest specialist rubber raw material suppliers and recyclers in the UK, supplying the equestrian market with rubber riding surfaces for gallops and ménages.

Meanwhile, Norton Heath Equestrian Centre has pledged support for the Senior Newcomers Championship as part of their ongoing association with British Show Jumping.

Julia Biddle, of Norton Heath EC, who owns a number of show jumpers and recently sold the international horse Coeur to America, explains: “We have been producing show jumping horses for a number of years and of course running affiliated show jumping at our centre.

“The Newcomers is a fantastic championship and attracts both amateurs and producers of young horses, so it is the ideal series for us to be linked to!”
