A Shetland pony had to be put down after it strayed onto a single track road on the Black Isle, in the Scottish Highlands, and was hit by a motorbike.
The crash happened last week (Thursday 24 July) at about 6.15pm on Springfield Road Brae between Culbokie and Balblair.
A 40-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with non-life-threatening injuries. The pony had to be euthanased at the scene.
A spokesperson from the Highlands and Islands Police Division said: “It is not clear how the pony came to be on the road; it was not being led or ridden and there were no other people involved.”
The police have appealed for witnesses who saw a blue and white Suzuki bike or the pony on the road before the crash.
