The Jeep National Riding Festival, which aims to encourage people to get in the saddle and take up riding, has raised £7,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care during 2003.
Triggerthon, the festival’s fundraising marathon, saw Trigger the mechanical horse attend special open days at more than 30 Jeep dealerships on his journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats. He also took part in five Chrysler Jeep Adventure Days and 13 Horsepower Days around the country.
Visitors to the events were charged a small fee, donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care, to experience the feel of riding astride Trigger, who can be relied upon not to shy, spook or charge off.
Steve Gray of Chrysler Jeep says: “We are thrilled with the achievements of this year’s Jeep National Riding Festival, not least the amount we have managed to raise for such a worthwhile and deserving charity as Marie Curie Cancer Care. We hope that this donation will go some way to enabling the charity to continue its fantastic work.”
The Jeep National Riding Festival is now in its fifth year and although precise figures are not available it is believed that many people who have taken part in the festival’s events have gone on to become regular riders.
