Equestrian business loses all stock to thieves

  • Burglars have stolen nearly all of the stock of a Yorkshire equestrian business.

The owner of the company in Keighley, Lauren Houfe, said at least £5,000-£7,000 worth of equipment was stolen on 19 May.

“They took pretty much everything. I was left with a few rugs, lead ropes and horse treats. It was completely and utterly devastating,” said Miss Houfe.

Security cameras on the premises showed 3 men loading equipment into a car.

Miss Houfe, 25, set up the business, Hoofies Equestrian and Pet Supplies, 2 years ago.

“I’m lucky to have some very loyal customers who have been very supportive. I will now do lots of sales on a pre-ordered basis,” she added.

Sergeant Stephen Hanson, of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We would like to hear from anyone with information about this incident, which is believed to have occurred between 1am and 3.30am on Monday 19 May.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who might been offered reduced-price equestrian equipment.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 1825 Edwards at the Keighley NPT on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
