New to whip to slow down cars

  • Many riders complain that “happy hacking” is a thing of the past, with cars making riding on the roads a terrifying experience. But 1 rider has taken matters into her own hands and invented a new weapon against inconsiderate traffic — the safe whip.

The new product transforms a traditional whip into safety equipment by adding a 20cm x 12cm paddle on to the end, with block capitals “pass wide” and “slow down” stamped on the side.

The lettering — which is the same size as on high visibility jackets — is meant to give drivers clear instructions on what to do when passing horses.

Fashion conscious riders need not worry, as the paddle is available in orange, pink or yellow.

Although the saying goes “you can’t put a price on safety”, the whip’s creator has decided on a rather hefty £20 price tag.
