In recent years country fashion styles have become increasingly popular. Not only has this growth been seen in stables around the country, but on the high street as well. With increasingly more country and town folk rushing out to fill their wardrobe with quality country attire, the demand for durable and fashionable outdoor clothing has never been higher.
In response to this, Waterside Garden Centre — a large, independent garden centre in south Lincolnshire — decided to expand its horizons and launch its very own outdoor clothing shop within the busy garden centre.
Country Clothing was born and opened its doors in 2012. Even with over 20 years of retailing experience, opening a clothing shop was a completely fresh challenge. Armed with an arsenal of some of the country’s biggest outdoor clothing brands, Country Clothing approached this new market head on. The initial line up included: Toggi, Musto, Dock of the Bay, Alan Paine, Seeland, Sherwood Forest and Joules Clothing. The store quickly increased in popularity and enjoyed a successful first year of trading, particularly with its range of Joules products.
As a result of the impressive sales in the first year, the decision to launch a new ecommerce website for country clothing was made. Country Clothing Direct went live in March 2013 with the same strong line up available in the store. Although the Country Clothing website is only a few months old, the response has been truly outstanding. Within a couple of weeks orders began flying in and the website pushed the brand to new heights. Since the launch, Country Clothing has attracted a few new, big brands to join the team. This month, we added The North Face and Jack Wolfskin to our outdoor clothing range. These two massive, international, technical brands raise the bar for Country Clothing again, opening another route to venture down. With this new line up we have something for everyone. From equestrians and hunters, to hikers and climbers; Country Clothing is fast becoming a driving force in the outdoor clothing area.
The road ahead for Country Clothing looks promising as it makes huge strides in the outdoor clothing niche. With only eighteen months of trade under its belt, things can only get better for the brand, especially with a fantastic website expanding its reach. With already promising reviews since the website went live earlier this year, Country Clothing Direct is definitely one to keep an eye on.
