Plan your hacking online

  • The RIDE UK website includes off road riding information for local and long distance riders alike

Following the deaths of at least 12 horses in road accidents this year, The British Horse Society has updated its RIDE UK website to provide riders with the latest information about off-road riding in their area.

The website, which can be found at www.ride-uk.org.uk, includes information about local rides, as well as maps showing how long distance routes link together. The site also shows routes planned over the next few years.

Long-distance riders can find contact details of individuals offering bed and breakfast for horses and riders on the individual route pages.

“The website is up-to-date with all the rides we know about,” explained Nichola Gregory of the BHS. “We want riders who have off-road hacking in their area to contacting us with any unlogged routes. This will help us identify the areas that need new routes and let people know what is available.”

If you know of a route which is not included on www.ride-uk.org.uk please send details to Jo Webb, British Horse Society, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2XZ.

    What is RIDE UK?

RIDE UK is a BHS initiative which aims to create a National Bridle Route Network of routes for riders and carriage drivers. The existing long distance routes will link into regional routes, which in turn will link to local community routes. The idea is to have a complete network covering the whole country, giving every rider local access.
