Paul Jepson has been appointed as the new president of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) for 2013/14.
Brigadier Jepson graduated from Liverpool University and worked in mixed practice for 5 years before joining the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
Between 1997 and 2010 Paul was chief executive of The Horse Trust and now works as a veterinary advisor from his home in the New Forest.
Paul is a member of a government and equine industry Core Group on exotic diseases, chairman of the committee responsible for delivery of the GB Equine Health and Welfare Strategy, member of the National Equine Forum committee and a past Master of the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
“BEVA is a recognised world leader in promoting the highest standards of equine health and welfare, scientific excellence and education,” Paul said.
“BEVA really makes a difference and it is an honour to be president.”
Paul will take over the role from Keith Chandler at the BEVA conference which is taking place this week (11-14 September).
Andrew Harrison, a partner at Three Counties Equine Clinic becomes president elect and Mark Bowen becomes junior vice president.
