Leading national hunt jockeys Tony McCoy and Richard Johnson, currently one and two in the race for the championship, are to join forces for a game of polo designed to raise funds for a leading spinal injuries charity.
McCoy and Johnson will be joined by Carl Llewellyn and Chris Maude in ajockeys’ team taking on a group of eventers, which includes Johnson’sgirlfriend, Zara Phillips.
William Fox-Pitt and Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks complete the event team, which will compete with the jockeys on polo ponies and bicycles.
The challenge will take place on Saturday 14 July at Tidworth, Wilts, and forms part of a major fund-raising day for the Inspire Foundation, a charity which works with victims of spinal injuries at a special hospital unit in Salisbury.
The day will also feature polo matches between the Army and Navy, and an international event between a US side and a combined services team, complete the day.
