The FEI announces changes to international eventing competitions, including the reduction of the speed and endurance phases
The FEI eventing committee has announced changes to cross-country speeds and distances at international events.
It is also planning to implement a safety programme, which will include training for officials, and an international database with more CICs on a national basis to help co-ordinate this.
FromJanuary 2002, all four endurance phases of the CCI are to be reduced. A “C box” will be mandatory but the time of the halt will be flexible, from 0-10min, with the time added to the score.
There will also be a new dressage test next year for eachCCI and CIC star level.
The controversial idea of “one fall and out” on the cross-country has been scrapped, although a horse fall will continue to result in elimination, as will a fall in the show jumping. Refusals allowed in the show jumping have been reduced to two.
