A parade of equestrian celebrities will be one of the highlights of Wincanton’s race meeting this month
A parade of equestrian celebrities, led by Desert Orchid, will open a charity race day at Wincanton racecourse in Somerset on 28 October.
The parade includes Ginny Elliot, David Broome and Ray Cochrane as well as equine stars such as 1994 Grand National winner, Minnehoma.
Organiser, Sarah Bingham, said: “The parade will include all disciplines represented by the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund, which this year is again supporting the International Spinal Research Fund.
“It is the fifth year of the charity race day, which so far has raised more than £270,000.”
The race day itself features seven races, including the Desert Orchid Southern Western Pattern Steeplechase and the Dextra Lighting Celebrity Flat race in which 12 celebrity riders will take part.
There will also be a silent auction for a chance totake part in the 2002 Wincanton charity race. The highest bidder will be given the chance to ride after having been passed fit and safe by local trainer, Robert Buckler.
