Pony Club member aims to go international

  • Mounted games rider, Christina Price, is getting ready for the ride of her life this summer – but there’s one big obstacle before she even starts.

She has been chosen to take part in the International Mounted Games in Kentucky in the USA from 24 July to 8 August.

But to get there she has to raise £1,400.

Although her family are digging deep to raise some of the funds, Christina is also organising a sponsored bike ride of 50 miles at the end of June.

Christina, a member of the Clydach branch of the Pony Club in Wales, was selected along with four others for the championships.

“I couldn’t believe it when I got the letter through the door. My hands were shaking when I read it. I just can’t wait to go.”

Christina, whose been riding since she was four, has two ponies, Nutkin and Tears.

She competed at Wembley for her Pony Club branch and represented Wales at Windsor Horse Show.

But this will be her lastyear of competition – so she’s hoping to go out in style.
