The British contingent giving displays at Equitana this month will useborrowed horses rather than taking their own animals to Germany in the midst of the current foot and mouth outbreak.
Said Ron Avis, organiser of the British group: “In atremendous spirit of co-operation, German people have leant Shire horses and even blackHanoverians from the Household Cavalry to use in their display.”
He also confirmed that trade exhibitors had been able to take products and equipment to the show in Essen on March 3-11. “We had one incidentconcerning feed but that has been cleared by the German ministry.”
This year’s Equitana also sees the world premiere of a horse musical called Le Prince, which tells the story about Louis Henri de Bourbon, the 7th Prince de Conde. The Bourbon prince is believed to have been reborn as a horse after his death.
Each day also sees practical demonstrations with trainers from all over the world, including Jo Hinnermann, Monty Roberts and Pat Parelli.
