ILPH staff and supporters raise substantial sponsorship in special charity ride
A ride in Norfolk organised by staff at the International League for the Protection of Horses andusing some of its horses attracted 85 riders and raised nearly £1,500 for the charity.
Many sponsored rides raising money for the charity are held during the year, but this was one of the few which staff helped to organised.
ILPH operations support manager, Nadine Hawkes, said: “Thanks must go to our grooms who raised sponsorship and, on their day off, brought our horses and ponies along to ride.
“Public outings of this kind are an invaluable part of the horses’ rehabilitation programme. “
For Puff, a 10hh 13-year-old grey Shetland gelding who prone to laminitis, it’s a case of “second time round”.
Puff orginally went out on loan as a companion to a donkey called Holly, but has now returned to the ILPH as his loaner can no longer look after him. However, the return of Puff has also meant the arrival of his 23-year-old “friend”, Holly as they refuse to be separated.
The ILPH is hoping to find a loan home where they can remain together.
