A horse sale with a difference is being organised to raise funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Fund and the Addington Fund
A horse sale with a difference is planned at The Divoky Club in the village of Butleigh Wootton, near Glastonbury, Somerset, on Saturday 22 September.
The event starts at 10am and is expected to finish at around 6pm. Owners are invited to bring along their horses and ponies and sell them privately, rather than going under the hammer.
The show is being organised by local farmers Pat and George Burrough in order to raise funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Fund and the Addington Fund. These are two charities, which are helping farming families throughout the UK.
Pat Burrough said: “Our local paper was full of horses for sale, none of which seemed to be selling. We decided it would be great to get all the buyers and sellers together and was amazed at the response to the idea.”
Three rings have been set aside to allow sellers to put their horses through their paces.
Overnight accommodation to this event can be found prior to the day and stallions will only be accepted if the organisers are notified in advance.
People wishing to bring horses and ponies to this sale will be charged £20 admission to site, car boot sale sellers will be charged £5. Although entry to buyers is free, people will be asked to make a donation.
